“Get in the barn!” cried farmer Joe,
“It’s getting late, it’s time to go.”
But fifty old cows said no, no, no.
“I know,” he said, “I’ll go get Fred.”
“C’mon, c’mon,” coaxed farmer Fred,
“Its cold out here, and time for bed.”
But fifty old cows just shook their head.
“I’ll be right back, I’ll go get Jack.”
“That’s it,” roared scary farmer Jack,
“If you don’t move, I will attack!”
But fifty old cows just turned their back.
Jimmy watched and laughed and laughed,
These great big men were really daft!
Then out he took his wooden shaft.
“What’s that?” shrieked Joe, “put it away!”
“You’ll scare the cows, they’ll go astray!”
I’ll play with you another day!
But Jimmy smiled and said “You’ll see.”
Then fetched a board and on one knee,
He hammered loudly, one, two, three.
“Put all that stuff back in the shed”
Joe stamped his feet, his face turned red”
I’ve had enough, NOW GO TO BED!
But Jimmy calmly turned around,
And used the brush and paint he’d found,
Then stuck the sign there in the ground.
The cows looked on, and one said “mooooo”,
Then “mooo” and “mooo”, the others too,
And Jimmy knew what they would do.
“Wait,” said Jimmy, with a smile.
“We need to wait a little while,”
“Then you will see it done in style.”
All three farmers gaped in shock,
As 50 cows began to flock,
Into the barn at eight O’clock!
